A photomarathon is a photography competition in which participants take a number of photographs, in a set period of time, that reflect key words that are given to them at the start of the competition.

What is involved?

Junior photographers will have 3 hours to take 5 images, reflecting 5 key words or phrases that they will receive at the start of the competition.

What can I win?

The winners will receive a £10 gift voucher.

Where can I go?

Anywhere in the county where the competition is being held.

What do we need to do?

You will need to register in advance. On the day, your group will be given an envelope with the words in. All groups will start and finish at the same time. Once you have received your envelope, you are free to leave and start taking your photographs, you do not have to return to the starting place. There will be winners for the best image for each word. You will be notified if you are a winner, within 1 week of the competition.

Do I need a camera?

You can use a camera or a mobile phone camera.

I don’t know a lot about photography

Where possible, we will put on a FREE family friendly, photography masterclass before the competition. The instructor will show you how to get the best images whatever device you have. All masterclasses will be optional to attend but you will have to register to have a place.

How old do you have to be to take part?

We welcome junior photographers from 8 to 16 years. There must be at least one adult, aged 18 years, who accompanies you.

How will you see our pictures?

The adult in your group will be asked to email the pictures you have taken, with your name and the name of the word / phrase. The Children's Uiversity Team will then print off the pictures as they receive them. We will also share your pictures on social media for all to see.

How do I send in my photos?

Via email to photos@glyndwr.ac.uk or via WeTransfer. Your adult will help you to do this.

Can I get a stamp code from the Children’s University?

If you are part of the North Wales Children's University pilot, you will be able to get a stamp code for taking part in the event.
