  • Glyn - Residential and Campus Life Manager

    Practices sincerity, leadership, conflict resolution and is a collaborator of community success.

    Glyn joined WGU in Dec 2021 as Residential and Campus Life Manager. Previous to this Glyn gained a huge amount of managerial experience from working at other Universities and from his time in the Civil Service. 

    Glyn has a drive and determination to improve and develop Wrexham Student Village.  It is his hope that through excellent customer service and inspiring facilities every resident will have an amazing experience and find that home from home.

    Glyn believes in equality and that everyone should have a place in a community. By listening to student feedback, organising events, working closely with the SU, Glyn believes we can create a community at Wrexham Student Village where everyone has their place, everyone has a safe space to study, socialise, reflect, and grow. 

    Glyn campaigns for groups such as White Ribbon and has been trained in sexual harassment awareness, emergency incident planning, Fire Marshal, First Aider and Responder.

  • Pip - Residential Life Coordinator

    Celebrates wildness, freedom, sustainability and good times.

    Pip Joined WGU full-time in 2015 as a site assistant looking after students, residents and land at Northop Campus. In 2017 she became part of WGU’s sustainability team and the green champions, helping promote sustainability throughout the university, behaviour change, raising awareness, encouraging participation and has been voted WgSU’s Sustainability Champion of the year, three times, for her voluntary work on the sustainability agenda. 

    In 2021 she became Residential life coordinator at WGU’s Wrexham Student Village and has made it her mission to create a WSV community by organising events/activities, competitions and day trips for residents to get involved with. Pip’s background in hospitality has enforced a strong commitment to deliver excellent customer service, and becoming a family and a mum of two has given her a new found appreciation of the importance of love, care and support. 

    She’s an advocate for groups such as White Ribbon, LGBTQ+, Fairtrade, Carers for Wales, and has been trained as a Mental Health First Aider, Fire Marshal, First Aider and Responder.

  • Paul - WSV Hall supervisor

    Advocate for fairness, kindness & creating great life experiences 

    Paul joined WGU full-time in 2018 when the university purchased Wrexham Student Village, but has been overseeing the welfare of both residents and buildings of Wrexham Student Village since he became halls manager here back in 2011.

    Paul’s passion is renovating houses, which has given him an excellent eye for maintaining the upkeep of the buildings, he’s extremely organised and is responsible for property compliance, maintenance and the day to day running of WSV whilst being an agony aunt for many of our residents. 

    Paul has worked in hospitality his entire working life, which includes all aspects of running and managing hotels and holiday parks which includes 7 years’ experience aboard , which has taught him to have great respect for others and given him a need to please. Paul is a family man and since having both his son and daughter with his partner has become the finest role model, he’s friendly, determined, stays calm under pressure and knows the power of influence ... .or maybe that should be bribery!  

    Paul is accredited as a landlord and Rent smart Wales, he’s trained as a Mental Health First Aider, Fire Marshal, First Aider and Responder.

    Paul’s ethos - Failure to prepare is preparing to fail, Nothing is too much trouble, life is 10% of what happens and 90% of how you react to it.

  • Maintenance

    Both our maintenance men have been looking after WSV for many years, they know our blocks inside out. They undertake general facilities repair, including furniture building and furniture removals, grounds and site clearance, repairing and installing appliances and keeping areas clean and tidy generally.

    Between the two, they are a multi-skilled fountain of knowledge. When faced with a problem their experience and skillset can diagnose and solve almost any issue. Trained in Cherry picker, Fire Marshal, Evac Chair, First Aider and Responder

  • Housekeeping

    Our housekeeping team have been shortlisted for best operational team, voted for by students and In recent surveys, we asked residents to score the service our housekeepers provide (5 being very satisfied), the team scored 4.7 .

    Our fantastic security team provide round the clock security, care and support for our residents.

    They are trained Mental Health First Aiders, Fire Marshals, Evac Chair, First Aider and Responders.
