How does my child get involved?

Schools and Community groups based in Wrexham and Flintshire will be able to join the Children’s University from Monday 2nd October 2023.

If you feel like this scheme would be beneficial to your child’s school, why not approach their teacher or head of year. The project team will be happy to speak to any schools that are interested.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer individual or family memberships at this time. The Children’s University Trust (who runs the CU network) are working on a national scheme for individual children to join. Please email contactus@childrensuniversity.co.uk for more details.

In the meantime, feel free to use some of the resources on the Children’s University website as activities to complete with your child, as many can be completed from home.

What does my child have to do?

Children and young people who participate in the Children’s University decide what they want to learn, choose their own activities and, most importantly, have fun!

They will have the opportunity to gain credits by:

  • attending school clubs on school property
  • participating in voluntary, extra-curricular activities within school time such as music lessons
  • completing online activities
  • attending activities from Learning Destinations such as Xplore!, Theatr Clwyd and local sports clubs, theatre groups and other organisations. View the ever-growing list of providers.
  • Completing holiday challenges from the Wrexham & Flintshire Children’s University Team

How does it work?

Children and young people receive a stamp code for every activity they take part in. They log their codes in their Passport To Learning and, every week, will log into their CU Online portal to convert their stamps into hours.

If the Learning Destination does not have a stamp code, they have not signed up to the new online system yet. You can direct them to the website to do this.
