Dr Ian Davies-Abbott

Uwch Ddarlithydd mewn Nyrsio

Wrexham University

Mae Ian yn Uwch Ddarlithydd Nyrsio. Mae ganddo gefndir mewn nyrsio iechyd meddwl, addysgu ac ymchwil.

Yn bennaf, mae wedi cymhwyso dulliau ansoddol gan gynnwys Ymholiad Gwerthfawrogol, damcaniaeth lleoli a chyfweliadau lled-strwythuredig mewn ymchwil. Mae ganddo ddiddordeb mewn sut mae iaith yn llunio gwirioneddau derbyniedig sy’n arwain at weithredoedd cymdeithasol cadarnhaol a negyddol a sut all y gwirioneddau hyn gael eu herio. Prif ffocws ei ymchwil oedd profiad bywyd pobl sy’n byw gyda dementia a rhoi llais i grwpiau nad ydynt yn cael eu clywed yn aml. Mae Ian wedi cyflwyno ei waith mewn cynadleddau cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol.

Ian oedd y prif ymchwilydd ar gyfer yr astudiaeth ‘Ieithoedd yn creu gwirionedd’ a oedd yn ystyried effaith ysgrifennu nodiadau achosion clinigol am bobl sy’n byw gyda dementia. Roedd o’n gyd-brif ymchwilydd ym mhrosiect y Rhwydwaith Arloesi Celtaidd ar gyfer Gwyddorau Bywyd Uwch (CALIN), a gysylltodd busnesau, y byd academaidd a gofal iechyd gydag arbenigwyr o chwe phrifysgol flaenllaw ledled Cymru ac Iwerddon. Roedd yn gyd-arweinydd ar gyfer y pecyn gwaith, Amgylcheddau Heneiddio fel aelod o’r Ganolfan Ymchwil Dementia a Heneiddio (CADR).

Trwy Astudiaeth Effeithiau Rare Dementia, fe arweiniodd Ian astudiaeth a oedd yn archwilio’r llwybrau atgyfeirio ar gyfer pobl sy’n byw gyda dementia yng Nghymru. Mae’n parhau i gefnogi grŵp Rare Dementia Support yng Nghymru, sy’n grŵp misol ar-lein ar gyfer pobl yng Nghymru y mae’r mathau prin o ddementia yn effeithio arnynt. Yn 2023, roedd Ian yn ymgeisydd llwyddiannus i Grwsibl Cymru.

Fe oedd awdur strategaeth genedlaethol Cymru a chynllun gweithredu Mapio Gofal Dementia, fel rhan o’r Llwybr Safonau Gofal Dementia Cymru Gyfan, a ariennir gan Gwelliant Cymru.
